NEXCEL Convened 2025 Project Kick-off Meeting in Beijing

BEIJING, April 27, 2026 - NEXCEL convened its 2025 Project Kick-off Meeting. Representatives from China Building Materials Academy (CBMA), Aramco Asia, NEXCEL Technical Advisory Committee (TAC)/ Technical Committee (TC) as well as NEXCEL 2025 project teams attended the meeting. The meeting launched NEXCEL's new projects, and marked the commencement of its second 3-year phase.

Prof. Hou Diyang, President of CBMA and Chairman of NEXCEL TAC, addressed that CBMA is the largest and the most prestigious R&D institution in the building materials sector in China, with strong research capabilities and mature industrial expertise in low-carbon construction materials. NEXCEL has, over the past four years, successfully scaled multiple laboratory technologies into engineering demonstrations worldwide, effectively advancing nonmetallic materials towards higher performance, durability, and sustainability. Moving forward, CBMA will further strengthen strategic collaboration with Saudi Aramco, fully support NEXCEL's cutting-edge R&D and engineering application, and deliver high-value, sustainable solutions for low-carbon transaction for global construction sector.

Mr. Saad Allowemi, Vice President of Engineering & Technical Services at Aramco Asia, recognized NEXCEL's outstanding accomplishments through its deployments which have delivered significant results in plastic waste recycling and CO2 emission reduction. These efforts demonstrate that technological innovation and environmental responsibility can, and must, advance together. He expressed sincere gratitude to CBMA, TAC/TC members, and all project teams for their continued trust, commitment, and belief in NEXCEL's mission. He also looked forward to deeper cooperation in addressing complex global challenges in low-carbon transformation and industrial upgrade, while reaffirming the shared ambition to pursue innovation-driven development, uphold standard-setting leadership, and promote sustainable growth in the construction industry.

Subsequently, Prof. Hou Diyang announced the list of 16 NEXCEL 2025 innovation projects, marking the official start of their implementation.

Together with Mr. Saad Allowemi, Prof. Hou Diyang awarded the appointment letter to NEXCEL TAC/TC members, which composed of well-known professors and industry leaders. The TAC/TC members will continue to provide forward-looking guidance, professional insights, and strong support for NEXCEL's long-term development.

During the Project Implementation Plan Review Meeting, each project team presented its technical roadmaps and execution plan. Experts from the TAC/TC shared their opinions to improve the feasibility and effectiveness of the project plans.
